DIGITAL NORTH CEO AWARDED AS 2005 EMERGING ENTREPRENEUR

Growth, Staying Power, Innovation, and Commitment to Employees Recognized

(Minneapolis, MN) – Mike Sowada’s leadership and contribution to the growth of Internet technologies was recently recognized by a group of local leaders from the TwinWest Chamber of Commerce as he received the 2005 Emerging Entrepreneur Award.

As CEO of Digital North, a managed web-hosting solutions provider, Sowada has proven his deep experience in maneuvering the many challenges surrounding high-technology companies, quickly navigating from inception to steady double-digit growth.

And that’s what drew the attention of the TwinWest Chamber. Sowada was awarded based on Digital North’s growth, staying power, innovation, ability to overcome adversity, involvement in the TwinWest Chamber and in the community, and commitment to their employees.

Digital North’s commitment to community is clearly evident in the list of charitable organizations to which they donate web-hosting services.

Sowada’s commitment to Digital North employees could be heard in his acceptance of the award.

“I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the Digital North team. I want to thank each and every one of you for this honor,” said Sowada.

The award follows a series of impressive accomplishments for Digital North. The company has been recognized as a top web-hosting firm by the Business Journal each of the last three years and has also been experiencing impressive double-digit growth.

In 2004, Digital North saw 80 percent revenue growth and, so far in 2005, Digital North is seeing 44 percent growth.

“Old ideas still resonate today,” said Sowada. “Professional service, integrity, and client accountability have been, and remain, the basis of our success. It’s really rewarding to see that pay off.” 

Sowada was honored at a TwinWest luncheon held at the Metropolitan in Golden Valley in May, which was emceed by local meteorologist, Paul Douglas, WCCO-TV.
